After service in Asia he accompanied Julius Caesar to Britain (55 BC); wintered in Gaul (54 BC), where he fought off the attacks of Ambiorix; and went to Cilicia (51 BC) as legate with his brother. He fought for Pompey in the battle of Pharsalus.
