Meanwhile micro-computer technology was growing rapidly and with each new advance Microsoft was there to provide a computer language. It furnished versions of BASIC and FORTRAN for Intel's new 16-bit chip and developed a soft card for the Apple II, the top-selling microcomputer at the time, that enabled it to use CP/M and Microsoft BASIC. This was Microsoft's first hardware product.
