The two species of gorilla are the western, comprising the western lowland ( G. gorilla gorilla ) and Cross River ( G. gorilla diehli ) gorillas, and the eastern, comprising the eastern lowland ( G. beringei graueri ) and mountain G. beringei beringei gorillas.
