Paul Sérusier and Maurice Denis were the principal theorists of the group. Outstanding members were Édouard Vuillard , Pierre Bonnard , Aristide Maillol , Félix Vallotton , and the lesser known Ker Xavier Roussel. The group held its first exhibition in 1892.
